The battle for the best Email provider just got one level higher as Google Gmail redesigned its technology. This week Google Gmail introduces another novel feature: “Priority Inbox.” The Internet Giant announced its newest innovation just weeks after releasing their upgrade on the “undo” ability. The “Priority Inbox” was scheduled to be rolled out last Monday midnight.

Gmail’s latest add on is designed to help user sort out their most important and urgent emails. Using an algorithm based on factors such as the identity of the sender, key phrases in the message, and the manner of which the mail was sent (individual or group) the computer will determine the most important e-mails and place them on the “Priority Inbox” (top of the inbox).

The Priority Inbox’s function is somewhat similar to spam filters used by Google and other e-mail providers. The key difference is that Priority Inbox is more sophisticated that it automatically sort the emails according to level of importance and urgency.

For example, users who get tons of emails daily from family to advertisement can see the messages from their family and friends ranked ahead of the other non important emails like the promotional emails from a web-based service users signed up for. “The crude version used to be only separating spam mails from non-spam mails” said Gmail product director Keith Coleman. “But with the advent of “Priority Inbox”, the non-spam mail will also be considered in varying degrees of importance,” he adds.

Gmail users will definitely welcome the company’s latest improvement, especially those who are swamped by thousands of message daily. This feature will allow them to further personalize their priority boxes, deleting emails that have been automatically sent to the lowest box and adding others they’d like to prioritize.

According to Coleman the concept was developed in response to the complains and grievances heard from a lot of their active users. “They are getting more emails than they can usually handle with their filters and manual setups. And so we wanted to give them a solution to this,” he said to reporters during a press conference.

Last Tuesday morning, users were already able to get a glimpse of the new feature link in their email dashboard that will let them activate the Priority Inbox. Some users, however, prefers the older version complaining about “missing mails”. Coleman suggested to use it more often. “It will get better just as you use Gmail. You can help it learn faster,” he said.

The redesigned inbox is just one of the several recent changes in Gmail. Last week, the company announced the improved “undo” ability which allows user to “hold” a sent message for 30 seconds and the installation of a more upgraded “compose mail”. Google also announced the integration of Google Voice into Gmail, which enable users to make calls directly from their Gmail pages, last month.

According to a digital research made by the Radicati Group, more than 294 billion emails are sent and received daily. The typical corporate computer averages about 110 emails everyday.

Sony really loves to steal money from our pockets because they release another set of awesome digital touch-screen cameras in their TX, T, and W series. Last July 7, 2010 in San Diego, Sony unveiled DSC-TX9, together with the DSC-WX5 and DSC-T99. DSC-TX9 is the world’s smallest 3D camera to date.

TX9 is powered by 12.2 megapixel Exmor CMOS Sensor. It’s so-called “Superior Auto mode” captures a high-speed burst of up to six frames when you press the shutter button. Same with other cameras, its settings are automatically optimised according to shooting conditions, that’s why it’s called “auto” right?

What’s great about TX9 is it can record HD videos up to 1080i and it can capture 3D photos! Oh, wow, photos in 3D! Isn’t it amazing! We’re in the future baby! I haven’t seen or tried TX9 yet, but I bet its features will make me wow, as I already owned 3 TX cameras and 1 T series camera and guess what? All of them satisfied my cravings for digital images.

Anyway, my DMC-LX3 is still better if we compare the quality of images taken. But Sony’s TX series is slimmer and lighter, packed with fantastic features for kids (3D feature, sweep panorama shooting, and touchscreen awesomeness). But we shouldn’t compare these two as we all know that the LX3 (with its Leica lens) is far more superior that all of Sony’s digital cameras.

I will definitely post sample 3D pictures of TX9 once I get my hands on it!

Thanks for dpreview.com for the photos!

I recently bought a White Blackberry Bold 9700 but I was disappointed. Why? Because I activated my Blackberry Internet Service and I received a confirmation SMS that me BIS is already active. But even if it’s active, I still can’t use the Internet Service by Blackberry.

I can’t use my BBM, I can’t use the Apps, I can’t send and receive e-mails, I can’t do a thing. It’s like not having a Blackberry at all because it’s pretty useless with the BIS.

I tried to activate my phone’s BIS via Globe Telecom by sending a BB ON 1200 to 8888. I received the confirmation message that the BIS is active, but after patiently waiting for almost 24 hours, my BIS is still not active. I tried to run the mobile network diagnostics and found out that his BIS is really not active.

I called Globe and asked for support, but to no avail. Globe suggested to change the unit to a Black Blackberry Bold 9700, because White Blackberry Bold 9700 has instances of being “cloned” or “locked”. They told me me that they also encountered the same problem with other subscribers who bought a White Blackberry Bold 9700. They also don’t offer it in their Prepaid and Postpaid plans. The only available white Blackberry as of now is the Blackberry Curve 8520.

I didn’t believe what Globe told me, so I switched to Smart. I bought a Smart Sim Card, sent BB MONTH to 2207, and waited for the confirmation message. I received the confirmation message that my BIS is already active, but the same problem occurred.

After patiently waiting for more than 24 hours, the BIS is still not active. Smart Communications called me and informed him that the problem is not with their network, but with the unit. Smart suggested to return the unit to the seller and change it to another unit, preferably the black Bold 9700, because they have problems with the white one, just like Globe.

So if you’re like me who bought a White Blackberry Bold 9700, you may have encountered this problem. All you need to do is return your unit and get a black one, until this issue resolved.

Bold 9700 white is cool, but it’s pretty useless if you can’t activate your BIS. If you want a white one, just buy a black one and replace it with a white 9700 housing. But there’s no original white housing, so you need to carry the burden by accepting the fact that your Blackberry is not all original.

The original white Blackberry does not work here in the Philippines and maybe in other countries as of the moment. I hope by the end of this year we can activate the BIS of original white Blackberry Bold 9700 handsets here in the Philippines

Another sleek and powerful Android phone was unleashed by our friends from Motorola, the successor of Motorola Droid, the Droid X. Droid X was released just after HTC EVO 4G and Apple iPhone 4 was released in the US.

Motorola Droid X has a 4.3-inch widescreen, 8-megapixel camera that shoots 720p HD video, and has more cool and awesome features that an Android phone can offer. Droid X will run at 1.0GHz, same with the EVO 4G. But it’s way more better than HTC because it has adopted OMAP processors by Texas Instruments rather than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon.

Droid X includes an HDMI output, potentially giving it the same multimedia capabilities as the Zune HD by Microsoft. Droid X has a whooping 8GB of onboard storage and a microSD expansion slot with a pre-installed 16GB card. That’s a total of 24GB available right out of the box! You can expand it for up to 40GB (if you upgrade your microSD to 32GB).

The Droid X will ship with Android 2.1 OS, but Motorola will update it to Android 2.2 by end of July, 2010. Just like Motorola’s previous Droid offerings, the X will by exclusive on Verizon. Starting July 15, Verizon will offer it for only $200 USD after a $100 rebate.

The iPhone 4G Price and Availability was announced by Steve Jobs in WWDC 2010 during his Keynote speech. Many awesome features were revealed during the event. iPhone 4G’s design is unique and brand new, compared to iPhone, iPhone 3G and 3GS.

iPhone 4G is the thinnest iPhone ever! It’s also made of stainless steel! The glass is scratch resistant and crystal clear to produce the highest optical quality. It has a front camera for Video Chat using iChat.

iPhone 4G has a 3.5 inch retina display, 960 x 640 pixels (that’s 4x more than the previous iPhone), its display has 326 pixels per inch, 800:1 contrast ratio, and has IP technology for superb color and wide angle viewing.

It has a 5 mega-pixel camera which can digitally zoom 5x. iPhone 4G is powered by the A4 processor. Its speed is unmatched compared to the previous iPhone of course.

iPhone 4G’s battery life is also improved! 7 hours of 3G talk, 6 hours 3G browsing, 10 hours Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hours music, 40 hours of music, and 300 hours in standby mode. Its capacity is up to 32GB. It’s a quad band HSDPA / HSUPA phone with dual microphones and 802.11n Wi-Fi.

Price and availability of iPhone 4 is also announced. It comes in two colors, the black and white.

Price is $199 USD for the 16GB model, and $299 USD for the 32GB model. Pre-orders of iPhone will start a week from now.

Another cool thing about iPhone 4G is it has a Gyro-accelerometer, which provides 6-axis motion sensing! Oh wow!

It can record 720p HD videos at 30 frames per second. You can just tap it to focus and it has video-editing capabilities. iMovie is now available in all iPhones, including the old ones. Just upgrade your OS to iOS4.

Not all features are available in the old iPhone, but you can avail some of the new features of the iPhone 4G if you upgrade to iOS4. The upgrade is free and will be released on June 21, 2010.

iPhone 4G has also multitasking capability, which is another awesome addition to the iPhone features.

Here’s another pretty late post about Motorola’s sleek Android-powered smartphone. What’s distinctive about Motorola is their keypad. Instead of the usual QWERTY, they changed it to QWERTZ. Another cool stuff about this Android phone is nothing more. It’s just the same as other smartphones with Android OS.

Key features of Motorola Milestone, also known as the Motorola Droid are Multi-touch input method, Accelerometer sensor, Proximity sensor for auto turn-off, and full QWERTZ keyboard with 5-way navigation key.

This phone was released last November 2009, but until now I’ve never seen an actual Motorola Milestone.

Its processor is ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz and I don’t know what to say next. I have nothing more to say about this phone. That’s all I guess, I just want to update this almost dead blog.

Finally, I got my hands on this uber sexy, stylish and sleek 1 Terabyte (1TB) portable wallet size hard disk. This is super cool and I really liked it! Currently this portable HD is only available in the US. Good thing I have a friend who went back to the Philippines yesterday and brought this awesome pocket size portable HD for me.

It’s smaller than the previous 500GB WD My Passport, but it’s slightly thicker. But it’s not that noticeable because it’s just 1/10 of an inch thicker than the old 500GB portable HD from Western Digital. The box comes with a USB cable and a manual. And.. I have nothing more to say. Wooot!

Here are some unboxing pictures of my Wester Digital 1TB Passport Essential. Yay!

This phone is one of the best designed phones in the history of the human race. However, it lacks all the features that we need. Its sleek and stylish design didn’t compensate its scarcity of functionalities. It has no WLAN, no 3G, no GPS, no Radio, no Infrared port, no HSCSD and it has almost no features at all.

If it cannot call or send an SMS, it’s the worst phone with the best design ever! Still, we can make calls and send text messages, so this gadget can still be of use. It has this awesome Handwriting recognition feature and Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate. I think that’s the most fantastic feature that this phone can boast.

Overall, this phone sucks. I hope they can create a new one with the same eye-catching look and has all the features that I mentioned above. Oh I love the design, I just hate the specs.

PS3 Slim (Playstation 3 Slim) has been released officially! Engadget had his hands on it already. So what’s new with PS3 slim? There’s nothing new. It’s on the name itself. It’s slimmer, lighter, 33% smaller, and 36% lighter. They say, it’s also a power saver. It consumes less power compared to the original PS3 version. It’s only available in 120GB HDD.

SRP in Amazon is around $300.00. My intuition says that it will be almost 18,000.00 pesos or more if this one arrived and priced in the Philippines. The best added feature of PS3 slim is that si synchronizes with your Bravia TV. If you turn of your Bravia, your PS3 Slim will automatically shut down.

If you may ask me which is better, I’ll still go for the original PS3 Version. PS3 Slim has no touch buttons. All buttons are now physical and actually “click” in to function, Engadget said. It has no Linux or PS2 Compatibility. And worst of all, the design sucks. It’s slimmer, but I hate the outcome.

Below are some images of PS3 and PS3 slim compared.
